Tomas & SARAH Marsh
Sarah and Tomas Marsh have been teaching yoga for a combined 45 years. They studied under some of the greatest yoga masters in the world including Marilyn Barnett, Bikram Choudhury, Baron Baptiste, Richard Freeman, Jhon T, John Friend, Deb Flashenberg, Lois Nesbitt, and Sandra Sommerfield-Kozak. Their teaching techniques and school curriculum reflect the culmination of their knowledge and experience with an emphasis on safe practice, and the wisdom of the Sutras. In 1997, Sarah opened the first Hot Yoga studio in Manhattan where she stayed for seven years. During that time, she was hired by The New York Football Giants to train the team for pre-season conditioning. She worked closely with Amani Toomer, Michael Strahan, Greg Comella, and Tiki Barber among others. FlorYoga's other clients include: Scott Wolfe, Martha Stewart, Molly Simms, Gina Gershon, Drew Barrymore, Anastasia, and Robin Strasser. For the last twenty-five years, FlorYoga has run Corporate Yoga programs for Sony Music Corporation, First Brokers Securities, Graze, True Entertainment, Kenneth Cole, JP Morgan Chase, and Mack-Cali Realty among others. Currently, Sarah and Tomas bring various forms of yoga to several residential facilities in Jersey City, Barnabas Health Women's Health Center at Grove, The Westin Hotel & JCity Realty. Since 2009, Sarah and Tomas have offered Yoga Alliance accredited Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training, Pre/Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training, Corporate Yoga Training, and Kids' Yoga Teacher training. They are deeply entrenched in the Jersey City culture, and honored to be bringing yoga to this beautiful, diverse, artistic community.
Melanie Ann Llanes: ryt. Group yoga instructor; TT Anatomy & Physiology
Melanie is FlorYoga's Anatomy and Physiology instructor. She has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Kinesiology from Rutgers University. She received her Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher 200 and Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher certifications from FlorYoga in 2012 and has been teaching yogis of all backgrounds: first-timers, pregnant women, competitive athletes, as well as those with a history of chronic illness or injury. She has taught a wide range of age groups, with students from 3 to 83 years old. When Melanie is not adjusting a downward dog pose or practicing her headstand, she is pursuing her passion in rehabilitation services as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant.
MAY LANE: RYT & RPYT. group yoga, pre/postnatal yoga, and senior teacher vinyasa and pre/postnatal teacher trainings
After a bad accident shattered part of her leg, May’s surgeon said “You can start yoga now, or just get used to the idea of walking with a cane.” So onto the mat she went…begrudgingly. In the 14 years since that accident, May has fallen in love with yoga. After graduating from FlorYoga’s teacher training programs, she started teaching in 2013. She is now a member of the Teacher Training staff for both the classic Vinyasa 200-hour and the Pre/Postnatal Yoga Alliance certification programs.
May has a performance background, both in music and comedy, so her yoga classes are full of fun music, and irreverent wit. She is passionate about spreading yoga beyond the traditional ‘yoga community’ and loves working with folks from all different backgrounds. May has become a teacher's teacher, and loves working with the trainees to help them practice their asana and sequencing skills. She is also an integral part of the Pre/postnatal 85 training, and enjoys helping the trainees to develop the teaching methodologies they will need to work with moms in every stage of pregnancy, and postpartum.
May lives her yoga, practicing holistic parenting with her beautiful boys, Johnny & Sven Owen, and her big boy/husband, Sven.
tani mills: life coach, 60-day transformation
Tani Mills is living a life of purpose. She has implemented and championed strategies that leveled the playing field of opportunity that lead to personal transformation and growth. As a senior executive with over two decades of experience of running a social enterprise, thousands of individuals were connected to work and the hope for a better future. An experienced executive consultant, recruiter and Motivator-in -Chief, Tani has worked with global audiences to discuss the importance of personal development, empowerment, and using their platform to serve as a catalyst for change. As a certified Life Skills Coach rooted in mindfulness, Tani embraces and fosters the concept of positive chi: a life of balance and flow. Tani coaches her clients to focus on developing a growth mindset; the ability to see what is possible as they navigate towards finding their True North Star- a fulfilling life. To enhance her yoga practice, Tani uses meditation and Pranayama, or, yoga breathing exercises based on Buddhist and Ayurveda traditions as part of her lifestyle. Tani has a BS in Criminal Justice and a MA in Forensic Psychology.
cheryl clark: private, semi-private and group yoga
Cheryl has been involved with dance, choreography, and movement education both nationally and abroad. Teaching at Drew University for 13 years, she was instrumental in creating the dance minor for the school. Extensively trained in Somatic modalities, she is a Certified Movement Analyst (CMA) in Laban Movement Studies and a Certified Body-Mind Centering Practitioner®. She currently teaches at the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies, where she has taught since 2003. Cheryl completed the FlorYoga’s Teacher training in 2015. Her yoga teaching emphasizes anatomical awareness, respect for the body-mind union, and the uniqueness that each individual requires. Her belief is that movement can inspire people and be used as a catalyst for individual and social change. Cheryl teaches Private, Semi-private, and group classes.
Lisa Ludwig: group yoga, kids' yoga, and director, kids' yoga teacher trainings
Lisa joined the FlorYoga family in 2013 after a summer of classes in beautiful Van Vorst Park. A lover of the serenity found in nature, Lisa’s teaching style reflects a balance of building physical strength and stopping to smell the flowers. Her classes focus on calming and empowering, using the breath to bring awareness and peace to the true self. Lisa is certified by FloYoga to teach yoga with a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification, Kid’s yoga certification, and Pre - and Postnatal certification. She also completed her Restorative Yoga training this past year. Off the mat, her career in education and social work focuses on issues impacting women and children, including work with survivors of gender-based violence, urban youth, and individuals with physical and behavioral disabilities. Lisa is always growing her knowledge through experiences and reflection.
Shelly Menchavez: group yoga, corporate yoga and pre/postnatal
Shelly dedicates her life to serving humanity. She is a FlorYoga 200-hour Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher, FlorYoga Pre/postnatal Yoga teacher, and also a registered nurse (RN). Shelly sensibly melds the science and heart of yoga into her classes with emphases on mindfulness and anatomy. Early in her medical career, yoga consistently helped her to realize her full potential and reach her own perfect daily balance in a chaotic world. She looks to share the wisdom of yoga and empower people to take charge of their minds. She provides a healing environment in her classes and offers a lively Vinyasa flow suited for all levels.
Oneika Mays: group yoga & floryoga teacher trainer
Oneika is a Private, Group and Therapeutic Yoga teacher as well as a FlorYoga Teacher Trainer. As both a yoga instructor and a yoga therapist, she works with groups and provides private instruction and therapy. Her goal is to passionately inspire people to take an active role in maintaining and managing optimal health. Her classes in studios are powerfully charged while maintaining a focus on uniting the breath with alignment and movement. Oneika's Therapeutic Yoga workshops and classes incorporate gentle yoga, propped restorative poses and guided meditation to allow people to connect with self-healing and relaxation. Oneika completed her 200-hour teacher training with Floryoga in 2012. She then completed Therapeutic Yoga teacher training at Integral Yoga in New York. In 2014, Oneika finished level I of Yoga for Cancer and Chronic Illness also at Integral Yoga.. She is grateful to all of her teachers for their guidance, wisdom and generosity of spirit.

LYNN PROWITT: health and wellness
Lynn Prowitt is a veteran health and wellness writer and editor, with deep expertise in nutrition. Once editor-in-chief of a magazine called GreatLife: Nondrug approaches to health and well-being, Lynn's career has spanned low-calorie, low-fat, low-carb, vegan, gluten-free and everything in between. She was an editorial consultant for South Beach Diet and Atkins Nutritionals, and on the editing teams for Dr. Atkins’ New Diet Revolution, Atkins’ Diabetes Revolution and other Atkins books. In recent years, she was the food and nutrition editor for a diabetes company called dLife. She has also worked for Reader’s Digest, Health, Self, Newsweek, Golf Digest, Life, More, Ladies’ Home Journal, and The Washington Post. Lynn has a master's degree in psychology. Lynn lives in Fairfield, Connecticut, with her husband, son, three stepchildren, two dogs and three chickens.
Laurel is a New York-based, freelance contemporary ballet dancer, choreographer, instructo, and yogi. Loving movement since birth, she is fascinated by the mind and body connection she finds through yoga and dance. Practicing yoga around the world on and off for 10 years, she finally found true yoga discipline after an injury left her unable to dance for months. In 2013 Laurel completed her 200-hour and Pre/postnatal certification with FlorYoga and has been teaching throughout Jersey City and New York since. Her style of teaching incorporates a fast-paced flow which focuses on body placement and breath structure to maximize efficiency in movement.
Zach Shery: private and group vinyasa yoga instructor
Zach Shery is a Jersey City based Yoga instructor. He has taught and practiced multiple physical-arts' disciplines--yoga, dance & physical theatre--for many years. His passion, behind his years of yoga practice, is based in the transformative nature of yoga. Teaching others so they may, too, benefit from physical, emotional and spiritual transformation of yoga, inspires him to further his practice and teaching. He is a graduate of FlorYoga’s 200-hour Teacher training program, and has a BA in theatre and dance from Muhlenberg College.
Leisha Duffo: private, and group vinyasa Yoga Instructor
Leisha Duffo first began practicing Bikram Yoga at Yoga Herald Square while working in the corporate world in NYC. Before Leisha began practicing Yoga, she believed that the key to exercise was running in the park or on a treadmill an hour a day. However, Yoga has helped Leisha to discover a whole new world to the true meaning of wellness. Yoga has given her the tools to create peace and balance in her life physically and emotionally. She completed her Yoga Alliance Certified 200-hour teacher training in June, 2016 at FlorYoga. Leisha is very passionate about sharing her love of yoga and she welcomes all levels of yogis to join her classes.
Autumn Perez: vinyasa yoga, Pre/Post Natal Yoga and Pilates Instructor
Autumn Perez is a certified FlorYoga Yoga Alliance 200 RYT and a graduate of FlorYoga's Pre/Postnatal advanced Teacher Training, a Power Pilates instructor, and has a B.F.A. in Dance from Montclair State University. Having been integrated in the physical fitness world for quite some time her classes are a well rounded amalgamation of exercises and yoga poses that are geared to invigorate the body, nourish the mind, and awaken the spirit. Autumn has taught and continues to teach yoga, Pilates, and Dance classes and Private sessions all over Jersey City and the surrounding areas. Autumn believes that movement heals the mind, the body, and the soul. When we take care of what is sacred to us mentally, physically, and spiritually we are freeing ourselves to live and be our most honest selves.
GINA GARCIA: PRIVATE, SEMI-PRIVATE AND GROUP YOGA
Gina initially turned to yoga for personal health reasons including lower back pains and being overweight. Upon noticing the amazing benefits practicing yoga had to not only her physical health but also mental, she found a new love for yoga. Yoga helped her develop a better awareness of self, as well as find peace, confidence and strength. Experiencing such self-growth led her to decide she wanted to help others achieve this personal freedom and wellness. Gina is an energetic, motivating individual who enjoys working with people and helping them build their self-confidence. Her motive is to help others seek and find self-love, as well as remind them that they are worth all the greatness they desire. Gina completed her 200-hour teacher training with FlorYoga and is excited to embark on her journey as a Yoga instructor. Her goal is to aid participants in relaxing the mind & body, renewing their thoughts and most importantly refreshing the spirit. Gina teaches private, semi-private and group yoga.
